Present

Today the landlord at our local had a present for me, a brace of pheasant. Shot Saturday. They look brilliant, supple smooth feet indicating young birds.
We'll hang them a little longer, "until the tail feathers pull free with ease," and take things from there.
I'd not had much time for writing lately, as usual there's a backlog of things that'll never be written about. Maybe trivial in the scheme of things, but, to me, at least a little tragic.
Regarding the pheasant, expect more to come — I promise.

(To make life more complicated, the plural of pheasant is pheasant in the context of game ... however in other contexts (passing them in a field, zoology, anything) it is pheasants.)
